Bertie, a qualified electronic engineer with an honours degree in business economics, has at least 39 years’ industry experience of which 26 years in the financial sector. His experience includes industry development, project development and implementation, project financing and structuring, transactional due-diligences, venture capital, information technology, system engineering, quality assurance, operational management and logistics engineering. His most recent involvements relate to energy storage industry development and associated project development opportunities towards the establishment of a local SA industry.

Prefeasibility for the expansion of a li-ion LMO precursor pilot facility into a commercial plant;
Coordination of a Energy Storage Technology and Market Assessment - condcuted by Parson Inc and sponsored by USTDA;
Development and roll-out of a Energy Storage Industry Development Roadmap in South Africa;
Development and roll-out of a Fuel Cell Industry Development Roadmap in South Africa;
Technical due-diligence for PV plant under the REIPPP smals programme;
Industry development and prefeasbility study related to the establishment of a Bamboo industry in South Africa; and
